Movin' On

It was a great day yesterday.  Made some new friends which was very special.  Sometimes you just have to forget about the things that bother you and MOVE ON.  Rascal Flatts did a great job of it with their song I'M MOVIN' ON.  I'm going to include the lyrics for you in my post today below.

Have a great week.  Don't be afraid to MOVE ON with life because you never know what good things await you around the next bend in the road!

I've dealt with my ghosts and I've faced all my demons
Finally content with a past I regret
I've found you find strength in your moments of weakness
For once I'm at peace with myself
I've been burdened with blame, trapped in the past for too long
I'm movin' on

I've lived in this place and I know all the faces
Each one is different but they're always the same
They mean me no harm but it's time that I face it
They'll never allow me to change
But I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong
I'm movin' on

Chorus

I'm movin' on
At last I can see life has been patiently waiting for me
And I know there's no guarantees, but I'm not alone
There comes a time in everyone's life
When all you can see are the years passing by
And I have made up my mind that those days are gone
I sold what I could and packed what I couldn't
Stopped to fill up on my way out of town
I've loved like I should but lived like I shouldn't
I had to lose everything to find out
Maybe forgiveness will find me somewhere down this road
I'm movin' on

I'm movin' on
I'm movin' on

Adversity

Have you ever felt like you were lost in the middle of the desert without water?  I feel that way right now.  It's hard to deal with life especially when you've tried your hardest to prepare and do something the right way and nobody seems to have noticed. It can make you feel like you're left alone without anything or anyone to help you.  Almost makes you want to give up and shrink away in life, doesn't it?

DON'T DO IT!  Please listen to me now, very carefully.  As the old saying goes, "... things happen for a reason."  That desert may not really be a place without water.  Even if you begin doubting yourself, don't give up.  If you need to reach out to a friend, someone or something to give you inner strength, peace and the ability to keep going on...  THERE'S SOMEONE OR SOMETHING THERE!

You've got to learn to believe in yourself again especially in the face of adversity.  I love this quote because it brings a picture to this story and helps me see something clearly when my emotions cloud my senses just like today.  Sometimes something a person has written, painted or created can say more than a live person.

“What makes the desert beautiful is that somewhere it hides a well.”

 by Antoine de Saint-Exupery

You can find a help in books, song lyrics, music, artwork, movies and even on line like right here for instance.  Think about the quote above.  It gives me HOPE.  Let me know what helps you.

Just imagine being in that desert and worrying yourself to death about running out of water and dying of thirst.  That thought gives me the creeps.  I sure wouldn't want to die of thirst, would you?  Maybe those kind of fears and doubts stop me from going out into a new place like the desert and enjoying it.  But if you know there's a well out there in the middle of the desert and how to get to it, you might not worry about not having running out of water and be better prepared to deal next time you wander on out there!  You might just be able to find the beauty of the desert too, if you're not worried about the things that make you doubt yourself about being out there.

So, lighten up and take a cool drink of water from the deep well of life EVEN if it is in the middle of a desert!  There's someone or something that's talks about having been exactly in the same spot you  are worrying about right now and preventing you from going on and living life to it's fullest.

Be talking to you soon.  Kristyn Z!

SAD, Winter Snow Have You Down?

Did you know there's a form of depression that affects people, especially teenagers to young adults that starts late in the fall when daylight hours get shorter and goes away in the spring as daylight gets longer?  It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD.  Girls are 3x more likely to have SADS than guys, too.  You can blame it on "cabin fever" or the "winter blues" but what it could be something very different and treated with some light therapy and medication. If you don't treat SAD, here's the downside, usually SAD comes back every year and can get worse!

The most common symptoms of SAD are; feeling miserable, low energy, tiredness, poor spirits and general depression. Some experience problems with sleeping, appetite changes and other symptoms. So, here's the good news, if you might suffer from SAD, get to your Doctor's office, tell your parents or a counselor in school because it's easy to help. There are some neat therapies (believe it or not going to a tanning salon could help) and light medication that can help you feel yourself again.

Even if you don't suffer from SAD, knowing and recognizing the symptoms can help you show compassion and help a friend or family member who does! Do you have something you want to talk about like SAD? You can email me or post a response right here and we'll talk about it. Hopefully, we can all help each other and start enjoying the SNOW and LIFE again.
